Origin Story

This skin originates from The 2018 Inferno Collection, a set themed around Inferno’s architecture, historic textures and vibrant color palette. Check Engine fits the collection’s fiery identity with its blistered red palette, echoing glowing embers and burnt brickwork found across the map.

It debuted during the FACEIT 2018 – Ways to Watch update, as part of the overhaul introducing several new map-based collections.

Drop Chance

Drop Chance is not publicly disclosed. Valve does not release drop-rate data for collection or souvenir packages, and there is no verified pool-weighting.

Existing copies derive exclusively from past collection or souvenir-package openings and the secondary market

Skin Condition

The USP-S | Check Engine is available in all standard conditions and all Souvenir tiers:

• Factory New: deepest reds with the most defined mesh cells.
• Minimal Wear: slight darkening and light fade around the suppressor.
• Field-Tested: texture gains a more blended, smoky appearance.
• Well-Worn/Battle-Scarred: colors desaturate into darker maroons, but pattern outline remains highly visible.
• Because this skin’s pattern is stencil/spray-based, it stays readable even in heavy-wear conditions.

Model

The Check Engine uses the CS2 USP-S model, featuring improved normal mapping, material shading, and a sharper silhouette. The mesh stencil wraps smoothly around the suppressor and frame thanks to CS2’s updated UV layout, while the enhanced lighting adds subtle depth to the red cells–creating a softer blend between dark and bright regions that wasn’t present on the CS:GO model.

How to Obtain

Unlike case-exclusive skins, the Check Engine can only be obtained through:

The 2018 Inferno Collection,
Souvenir Inferno Packages dropped during Major matches on Inferno.

It cannot be unboxed from weapon cases, making Souvenir variants the most collectible form.

Price Range

The Check Engine is one of the more affordable Inferno skins in its standard form, but Souvenir versions spike dramatically in price because of their collectible nature.

Visual Theme

Check Engine uses a Spray-Paint finish that layers a repeating red mesh pattern across the weapon’s body. The warm ember-like glow and organic circles make the skin feel molten and energetic, contrasting sharply against other Inferno blues, which are often much more subdued.

This makes it an excellent choice for players who want a fiery-themed USP-S without jumping into higher-rarity price brackets.
