The M4A4 | X-Ray is one of Counter-Strike’s most conceptually daring skins – a design that literally peels back the weapon’s surface to expose its inner mechanics. Released on 18 December 2013 as part of The eSports 2013 Winter Collection, this skin marked a pivotal moment in CS:GO’s creative evolution. Created under Valve’s direct art supervision, the X-Ray was originally part of a promotional campaign for eSports Case sales and quickly became a collector’s favorite. In CS2, lighting refraction enhances the translucent elements, giving the skin a subtle reflective shimmer that brings the mechanical internals to life.

How to Obtain

The M4A4 | X-Ray drops from the eSports 2013 Winter Case, one of the first eSports-branded cases designed to support tournament prize pools through item sales. As with other legacy cases, it is no longer in the active drop rotation but can still be opened and traded on the Steam Market.
It’s available in both standard and StatTrak™ variants across Factory New, Minimal Wear, and Field-Tested conditions – Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred versions do not exist due to the skin’s float limit.
