Origin Story

The M4A1-S | Mud-Spec entered the game on April 25, 2023, as part of The Anubis Collection, coinciding with the Anubis map's addition to the Active Duty map pool. This rifle skin features a custom black and brown camouflage, providing a tactical and subdued aesthetic. It is recognized as a budget-friendly, utilitarian option within the Anubis-themed collection, offering a low-cost way to complete a themed loadout. The design emphasizes a practical, low-contrast camo, aligning with military and operational aesthetics rather than flashy or high-saturation finishes.

Drop Chance

M4A1-S | Mud-Spec is Industrial Grade, a common skin tier, one step above Consumer Grade. It has appeared across 5 tournament packages, most recently the Copenhagen 2024 Anubis Souvenir Package, Paris 2023 Anubis Souvenir Package, and Shanghai 2024 Anubis Souvenir Package.


Souvenir Packages are awarded to viewers watching live Major matches on the corresponding map, not opened from cases, so Valve doesn't publish per-skin drop odds. Each package contains one item from The Anubis Collection, with rarity tiers drawn on a weighted system that heavily favors common grades, meaning Industrial Grade skins like Mud-Spec are a small fraction of total package contents. There are 3 other Industrial Grade skins in the collection competing for the same drop slot. New copies only enter the market when a recipient chooses to open their package, so supply trickles in over time even after the tournament ends.

Skin Condition

Float range 0 to 0.73. Exteriors: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred. StatTrak is not available for this skin.

• Factory New ($6.62): The black and brown camouflage pattern is crisp and fully saturated across the upper receiver and handguard, appearing fresh and unblemished.
• Minimal Wear ($1.24): The camo remains largely intact with full color, showing only minor softening of edges or tiny scuffs on the barrel and magazine.
• Field-Tested ($0.46): Noticeable light edge chipping and scuffing appear along the handguard and receiver edges, with colors beginning to look slightly duller but the camo pattern remains clear.
• Well-Worn ($0.52): Heavier scuffing and edge wear are present, especially at the front and along high-contact areas, making the camo appear more patchy and distressed.
• Battle-Scarred ($0.66): The camouflage is significantly faded and heavily scuffed, with large areas along edges and high-contact zones revealing more of the darker underlying material.

Mud-Spec uses the current M4A1-S model, added with The Anubis Collection on April 25, 2023. The Gunsmith finish responds to CS2's dynamic lighting.

It could be found in Anubis Collection Package and event-specific Souvenir Packages such as the Austin 2025 Anubis Souvenir Package, Copenhagen 2024 Anubis Souvenir Package, and Paris 2023 Anubis Souvenir Package, which were awarded to viewers during Major tournaments. Since new packages are no longer distributed, the primary way to acquire this skin today is by purchasing it directly from the Steam Community Market or various third-party marketplaces. It is also available through case-opening and skin trading sites that feature items from The Anubis Collection.
