Origin Story

The AUG | Chameleon, released on February 20, 2014, as part of The Phoenix Collection during Operation Phoenix, features a custom paint job depicting a vibrant chameleon. Its design is characterized by a bright green and yellow chameleon illustration set against darker green and teal tones. While newer AUG skins and other Phoenix Collection items like the AWP | Asiimov have gained more prominence, the Chameleon remains a distinctive, older covert skin. It stands out with its illustrative, animal-themed artwork, which is most visible on the weapon's receiver in first-person view. This skin is recognized as a nostalgic, budget-friendly covert AUG for collectors of operation-era items.

Chameleon uses the legacy AUG model, introduced with Operation Phoenix on February 20, 2014. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

The AUG | Chameleon is primarily obtained by opening the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case. As a Covert rifle skin, it can also be acquired through trade-up contracts using ten lower-rarity skins from The Phoenix Collection. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking. For direct purchase, players can find it on the Steam Community Market, various third-party marketplaces, or through case-opening and skin trading sites.
