Origin Story

The Gut Knife | Stained, introduced on August 14, 2013, with The Arms Deal update, features a blade treated with a forced patina. This process uses lemon and mustard dripped onto the surface to create an irregularly darkened, aged steel appearance. Unlike painted finishes, the Stained look evolves with wear by showing more dullness and discoloration rather than chipping.

Stained uses the legacy Gut Knife model, introduced with The Arms Deal on August 14, 2013. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

The Gut Knife | Stained is obtained as a rare special item from several legacy cases, including the CS:GO Weapon Case, eSports 2013 Case, Operation Bravo Case, CS:GO Weapon Case 2, and CS:GO Weapon Case 3. These cases no longer drop in active play and must be acquired through the Steam Community Market or third-party trading.A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
