Origin Story

The Gut Knife | Freehand was introduced on June 16, 2016, as part of the Gamma Exposure update, appearing in the Gamma case alongside other Freehand knives. It is generally considered a mid-tier, budget-friendly option for players who appreciate the Freehand design but prefer a more accessible price point than other knife types. The abstract, hand-drawn shapes and lines over a dark base are a signature of the Freehand pattern.

Drop Chance

Gut Knife | Freehand is a knife-tier skin, so standard Valve rarity odds don't apply. Knives drop at a combined rate of approximately 0.26% from supported cases before accounting for which knife type and finish you get. Valve doesn't publish individual knife or phase probabilities.

Skin Condition

Float range 0 to 0.48. Exteriors: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, Battle-Scarred. StatTrak is available in FN, MW, FT, WW, BS.

• Factory New ($115.07): The black blade base and purple Freehand linework are fully saturated with crisp metallic marker lines and minimal visible scratches on the blade faces.
• Minimal Wear ($89.12): The knife remains very clean with strong color vibrancy, showing only slight edge scuffing and minor micro-scratches on the tip or spine upon close inspection.
• Field-Tested ($83.60): Noticeable edge wear appears on the cutting edge and tip with some exposed metal, while the main blade faces largely retain the purple and black doodle pattern.
• Well-Worn ($98.13): Substantial edge wear and visible metal are present along much of the blade edge and front, with the doodle pattern still visible but interrupted and faded near high-contact points.
• Battle-Scarred ($128.25): The blade exhibits heavy wear with significant metal exposure on edges and around the tip, and the core doodle pattern is visibly muted and broken up.

Model

Freehand uses the legacy Gut Knife model, introduced with Gamma Exposure on June 16, 2016. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Gut Knife | Freehand can be acquired as a rare special item from opening a Gamma Case or Gamma 2 Case. These cases are no longer in the active Prime drop rotation but can still be obtained through general case drops and the secondary market. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking.
