Origin Story

The Tec-9 | Snek-9 features a custom paint job inspired by the distinctive banding of coral snakes, explicitly noted by its in-game description. Released on August 3, 2018, as part of the A New Horizon update and The Horizon Collection, its design applies a black base with vibrant red, yellow, and white stripes. This visual theme, along with the flavor text "If red meets yellow, you're a dead fellow," gives the skin a unique identity.

Drop Chance

Tec-9 | Snek-9 is Mil-Spec, a Blue-tier skin, less common than base collection drops. From the Horizon Case: approximately 11.42% per opening (roughly 1 in 9). The 79.92% Mil-Spec tier rate is split across 7 Mil-Spec skins in the case. StatTrak versions drop at ~1.14% from the Horizon Case (about 1 in 88). Snek-9 uses the legacy Tec-9 model, introduced with A New Horizon on August 3, 2018. The inspect animation and third-person appearance match the original CS:GO version.

How to Obtain

The Tec-9 | Snek-9 is primarily found by opening a Horizon Case, which remains in the active rare drop pool. As a Mil-Spec rarity skin, it can also be acquired through trade-up contracts using ten lower-rarity skins from The Horizon Collection. A StatTrak version is also available for kill tracking. For direct purchase, players can find this skin on the Steam Community Market or various third-party marketplaces. It is also available through case-opening and skin-trading sites.
