Stiletto Knife | Blue Steel

Origin Story

The Stiletto Knife | Blue Steel, released on August 3, 2018, as part of the A New Horizon update, offers a dark, subdued aesthetic. Its "cold blued" finish creates a unique patina directly on the metal, resulting in a non-reflective, dark blue-gray blade with subtle purple and brown hues. This understated appearance distinguishes it from flashy alternatives, appealing to players who prefer a sleek and darker knife. The design emphasizes a "gunmetal" style, fitting into more subdued and realistic loadouts.

Drop Chance

Stiletto Knife | Blue Steel is a knife-tier skin, so standard Valve rarity odds don't apply. Knives drop at a combined rate of approximately 0.26% from supported cases before accounting for which knife type and finish you get. Valve doesn't publish individual knife or phase probabilities.

• Field-Tested ($232.10): The patina becomes more noticeably irregular, with darker blotches and a more muted overall tone on the blade, showing a more "used" character.
• Well-Worn ($238.58): The blade looks considerably darker and more uneven, with larger patches of discoloration and reduced sheen, giving the metal an older appearance.
• Battle-Scarred ($262.15): The patina appears very dark, patchy, and heavily dulled, sometimes approaching a nearly charcoal or muddy gray overall blade color with less visible blue.

In first-person view, the blade face and tip are most visible, showcasing the darkened steel. The community often compares Blue Steel knives to case-hardened finishes, but darker and less vibrant, or to "gunmetal" style metals that fit more subdued, realistic loadouts.
