Origin Story

The Tec-9 VariCamo was released on November 27, 2013, as part of The Dust 2 Collection, coinciding with the "Out with the old, in with the new" update. This skin features a hydrographic application of a VariCamo pattern across its surface. Its design is complemented by the flavor text, "Rebuilding only comes in the wake of destruction."

Drop Chance

Tec-9 | VariCamo is Industrial Grade, a common skin tier, one step above Consumer Grade. It has appeared across 11 tournament packages, most recently the Katowice 2019 Dust II Souvenir Package, London 2018 Dust II Souvenir Package, and MLG Columbus 2016 Dust II Souvenir Package.


Souvenir Packages are awarded to viewers watching live Major matches on the corresponding map, not opened from cases, so Valve doesn't publish per-skin drop odds. Each package contains one item from The Dust 2 Collection, with rarity tiers drawn on a weighted system that heavily favors common grades, meaning Industrial Grade skins like VariCamo are a small fraction of total package contents. New copies only enter the market when a recipient chooses to open their package, so supply trickles in over time even after the tournament ends.

Since these tournaments have concluded, new souvenir packages are no longer being distributed.
